Chapter 5- Astonished or Guilty.

I sat there still in shock. How had I got such a high score, what happened. I was so happy! As I turned round I remembered the very reason I had put so much effort in. Dan was here, I had been trying to impress him without knowing. My family always told me I was born to impress. I couldn't help feeling a little disappointed. It was obviously showing because when I sighed and began to watch the next dancer Dan spoke up.
"Cheer up, you were amazing, I didn't know you could move like that", he said smiling.
I smiled appreciating his praise. I guess I was a little shy around him but I was a little intimidated by his beautiful eyes. For just a second I sat there staring into his eyes. God, who was I trying to kid. He was way out of my league but hey, a girl can dream. Eva was next to dance, she was a good dancer but it was all from dedication. She had had to work hard to follow her dreams. I have to be honest, when we first started dancing together when we were four, I was terrified. I was too scared to take it seriously. I loosened up after a month or two though. But even now when people criticise me I really hate it.
Eva had beautiful strong legs, everyone said so. She was a pretty girl but she was always too dedicated to her dancing to ever hold a boyfriend for long. She stood there in the middle of the floor patiently waiting on her music. As her routine began, she started her steps, every one practiced to perfection. She really was good, it was obvious she really wanted this too. She was putting her best into every move she made. I really did like Eva but I wish she would ditch the stupid geek she spend nearly every day with. Eva may be dedicated to dancing most of the time but at weekends she was totally different, she was amazing. She spends Friday and Saturday nights drinking and generally you'll find her with a different boy every week.
The judges decided a break would be suitable right about now so they could decide who was going through. I sat on my bench staring at them nervously while they glanced at me and the others in the room, watching them discuss who they thought was worthy of a place. The atmosphere was too tense for me, I had to leave. I turned to Becci, who was in the process of giving Dan yet another of her lengthy lectures.

I quickly walked away. I stood in the main reception area and looked for a vending machine with a small queue. There was none. I decided not to bother with a drink and went to the toilets. I looked in the mirror. As I stared at myself there, I noticed someone staring at me from the other side of the sinks. I turned round swiftly and looked to see who it could be. It was one of the older dancers from our club. She was quite big built but not fat. She was a pretty girl, but in her own way. I looked at her and just as I was turning away, she walked over and said
"What have you got to sigh about?!"
I was shocked, I felt guilty and confused.
"What?", I replied, startled.
"You're perfect, you were amazing tonight as always and just to top it off, you're gorgeous!"she said with a rather mean look on her face.
I just stood there stunned, I didn't know what to say. After what felt like forever, she walked away without another word. I was quite disturbed, I had never been envied like that, or at least I didn't think I had...

Chapter 4- Under Some-One Elses Control

I sat there watching Ailsa, our first dancer perform her routine perfectly until she was distracted by her pipsqueak boyfriend started shouting a little too loudly, well screeching rather. She tried to carry on and cover it up but she mixed up her footing and tripped over her own feet. It was quite a shame, she was pretty knew to the club but she was rather full of herself, to be perfectly honest she was a teachers pet.
There was three more dancers on before it was my turn. I was trying so hard not to show my nerves but I felt terrible and I was starting to get cold. I watched as the judges started hard into every flick and tremble each dancer put it. Watching carefully, almost hopeing for you to make a mistake and if you do they give you this look that makes you feel so much worse about it than you should. Ughh I hated it! I suppose they were only doing their job but then again why would you chose to do that for a living. The girl dealing with the horrible feeling at the moment was Dana. She was an amazing dancer, she moved so swiftly and everything she did seemed so flawless but she was always so nervous and insecure. No one knows why, there must be a reason behind it because everyone envied her. She was a lovely girl just a little to quiet. She was trying her hardest you could see it. She was just too nervous to perform her routine without shaking. I waited for her score and applause and I was astonished when the judges held up a 7.8. That was a ridiculous score. Ok, she was nervous but she moved beautifully. As I headed over to the mats in the corner of the room to warm up again and do some final stretches I couldn't help but think tonight was going to be a disappointment for most of our dancers.
The dancer after me got a seven which was just enough to get her through, but she looked severly dissapointed. SHe should have been grateful , afterall im not sure many of us would make the grade tonight. The girl after her, Anna, shot her parents a nervous glance and walked over to her coach. After a minuite or so coach announced that Anna would be withdrawn from the evaluation. I felt sorry for her a little but I couldnt help being suspicious that she did it for attention. She seemed the type.

As took off my legwarmers and slowly made my way to the middle of the hall floor, all eyes on em, I felt a shiver run down my spine and suddenly my nerves disappeared. Well almost! I turned and winked at Dylan, and stood in my starting position. As the music started I felt myself move exactly in time to the music. I felt as if someone else was controling my body. I felt I had never danced so well in my life. What was wrong was I halucinating, dreaming or going crazy. It had to be one of them. As my music got faster and more jumpy I put even more effort into my twists and turns. I ended up being so caught up in my trance I forgot my routine and had to make it up as I went along. Which wasn't so bad after all, considering I finshed with a huge apllause and a score of 8.6, which may I remind you is the highest yet. I smiled happily at the judges, took a bow and floated over to where Becci was sitting. She gave a hug and smiled at me, whispering in my ear,
"Told you I''d find something", she said beaming.

Chapter 3; Secretly Thankfull

As Dylan and I silently made our way to the bus stop the determination was starting to ease its way in. I knew I couldn't fail this, it meant everything! Dylan and Becci are the only ones who understood how much this meant to me. Partly because I had spend countless hours talking about it to them. When we arrived at the bus stop I turned to Dylan and looked up at him, he just looked at me and he could see I was nervous.
"You really ready for this tiny?" he asked jokingly.
"You know I am ", I replied half heartedly. I knew I could pass this easily with a little support. As our bus arrived I got a text from Becci saying
" You're going to love me chick" , I laughed, and showed Dylan. Typically Becci I though to myself wondering what her plan was. Becci had been the best friend I ever had, her family are amazing to me and she helps get me through everything. We argue constantly but we have never yet fallen out. So practically were just like sisters. I knew whatever she had plans would be helpful in some way but I was worried. She was extremely cunning when she wanted to be.

I arrived at the hall to find it locked, meaning no one had arrived yet. Luckily I had a key because I was often found here before anyone else and I practiced there later then everyone else most nights. I opened the door and began setting up CD players and bringing out stacks of chairs. It took me a matter of minutes to set the hall up and I stuck in my CD and started warming up. I spent extra time stretching to insure I didn't pull any muscles. I sat around for a bit then spun round to face the bench Dylan was sitting on. I glance at him mysteriously as he sat texting someone. I gave him a supspicous look and he jumped up and ran at me, picked me up and flung over his shoulder. I must admit it was quite sore but I was too busy laughing to notice. We began carry on fighting when the head coach Abigail walked in and gave us a disapproving look. We just looked at each other and laughed. I got up and asked Dylan to put my first song on. I took a deep breath and stood in my starting position. The music began and I ran through my routine not really focusing. Abigail looked at me sternly and I was zapped back to reality. The seriousness and determination flooded over me again and without question Dylan restarted my track and I began to really practice.

All the others dancers had arrived and a few parents were lingering around the hall. Before I knew it the hall was pretty busy. Even the examiners had arrived. I was just waiting on my luck charm Becci. As the introduction speech was read out I began to worry she wasn't coming when she burst through the door with a ridiculous smile slapped on her face. She was dragging some one else behind her and just as everyone turned around to view the commotion I saw him. She had brought Dan. She really did know what pushed my buttons, I was totally mortified but secretly thankful. I seriously wanted to impress this guy but what if i mucked up. I sat thinking and as he began to walk over I looked him in the eye and knew I would do amazingly considering when I wanted to impress someone, I did it.

Chapter 2 - Dazed and determined

I spent the rest of that day in a complete day dream, I just couldn't snap out of it. I was thinking about it far too much and besides I knew i had very little chance anyways. The last two periods flew in and before I had even reached the bus stop Becci was approaching me giving one of her full frontal lectures. I stood there staring blankly at her pretending I was listening. She eventually noticed and clapped her hands in front of my face. I blinked sharply and looked at her.
"Sometimes I wonder what goes on in that head of yours, you stare in to space , REGULARLY!"
I giggled and looked over my shoulder to see him mucking around with his friends, I must have looked like a complete idiot standing with this huge smile on my face. But oaft was hes nice. I turned to face Becci who was rolling her eyes at me. Both of us suddenly burst into fits of laughter about absolutely nothing. As he passed by us he looked at us and raised his eyebrow as me and Becci tried to keep a straight face.

It was then I remembered, tonight was evaluation night at dancing. This was big I needed a good report tonight or there was no way I was qualifying for AMTC. I had worked so hard this year and I needed to get through several other competitions to qualify for Greece. I knew I could do it , I just needed a little more support and something to push me on. As usual Becci noticed me thinking.
"Whats up Naomi ?!"
" I need a bit of fire in my belly tonight, I need something to make me work harder" I replied still staring straight ahead.I saw Becci look around her and think for a moment and just as my bus arrived her face lit up.
"Leave it with me, I'll see you there" she said with a smile."

I got home and sat down for a moment. I was counting on Becci to figure something out. The house was empty and quiet. I tidyed the living room a little and made myself a milkshake, walking to my room I noticed a bundle of blue things sitting on the table. I walked over to find a note which read
"Told you I'd find something to match! Good Luck, Mum xx"
Wow. My mum finally took in something I told her I needed. I put the note down and looked at the stuff. Everything was the perfect colour. She must have taken a bit of time to find it all . I took it all to my room and spread it out on the bed. I opened the doors to my wardrobe and pulled out my outfit which I had planned out the night before. I was wearing black leggings with a tight electric blue fitted top and a three quarter length black zipper. I jumped in a quick shower and wet my hair. I had barley left the bathroom when I heard a knock at my bedroom door. I wrapped my towel around me tightly and opened the door. It was Dylan, he came to every minor thing with my dancing. He was the best support I had. He walked over and flung himself on the bed. I walked over to my bed and picked up my clothes. I stood in the bathroom for a second and thought about changing my outfit.
"Dylan, I need your opinion on my outfit, and I want the truth!" I shouted while stepping into my leggings, I put the rest of my clothes on and towel dried my hair. I opened the bathroom door and walked straight over to the mirror. Looking at myself there I couldn't quite decide if I liked the outfit. One thing I was sure of, my figure looked amazing in it. People were always telling i had a beautiful figure but I had never agreed. I turned to Dylan who was sitting upright on my bed looking me up and down completely dazed his jaw dropped.
"Like it?" I said still unsure on what he was thinking.
"Its amazing Naomi", he said still fascinated.
I knew he was being serious, I had never seen Dylan so mesmerised. That finalised it for me. Even though it was plain and casual there was just something standing out. I turned a few times in the mirror and turned to see Dylan looking at me as if he was trying to find something. After a second or two his face lit up and he went searching through one of my drawers after a little frustrated searching he pulled out a thin electric blue belt and came over and put it round me. He adjusted it so it was slanting from my hip bone downwards.
I took another glance in the mirror and totally fell in love with the outfit. It was casual but sexy, revealing but not slutty. It was perfect.

I quickly blasted my hair and left it to hang in its natural wave. My hair was pretty long and was just the right colour of brown. I loved to play about with it, trying different styles all the time even though everyone seems to love it natural. Next, was my make-up. The part which took the most time. I decided against using my usual foundation and I used the one which added a little more sparkle to my face. I had a good colour in my skin and I didn't really need make up but I used it most days. I went through my usual routine adding a little more of a flick to my liner. I used the solid blue eye shadow my mother had bought me and then topped it with a navy glitter. It really emphasized my crystal blue eyes. I then moved on to the hardest part, false lashes. Another one of mum's findings. They were long black lashes with blue tips at the corner lashes. It was easier than I had expected to get them on and truthfully they looked amazing. I blended them in with mascara quickly and added some finishing touches. I quickly painted my nails and persuaded Dylan to paint my toes. I spritzed some perfume over me and proceeded to the living room to turn everything off. I slipped on black plimsoles and off we went.

Chapter One; Where Do I Start ...

So here we begin,
My name Naomi, Naomi McIntyre. I'm everything you'd expect of a typical fourteen year old single girl. I'm a reasonably nice girl but I'm not going to lie, I'm a total flirt with everyone and Ive found myself in trouble because of it. On more than one occasion may i add. I'm currently living with my best friend, Dylan because my loving mother and new step-dad threw me out the day after their wedding. I know what your thinking ; how nice, but frankly i only have myself to blame. After all i did totally humiliate them in front of pretty much our whole family.

It was the night of their wedding party, I was wearing a stunning little black dress with a silver and blue ribbon to emphasise my tiny waist. My hair was lying in loose waves which if i may say so myself looked very attractive. I had arrived earlier to help set up the hall although most of it had already been done. It seemed I had arrived a little too early because after twenty minutes I found myself pacing up and down the length of the hall. I had high expectations for the night , I had been so excited about it for months. After a further forty minutes of sheer boredom, I decided to go round the tables checking the place names were correct. It took me roughly ten minutes to check all the tables apart from the table where me and my guests were sitting. I took my time rearranging some of the name cards and favours to make them look more presentable, when i reached the eighth seat of the table to see the name card with Dan printed in red and silver italics, a million thoughts streaming through my mind. I had been so caught up in the wedding plans I had totally for gotten he was meeting my parents for this first time, what if the didn't approve.

Dan and I have one of the hardest relationships to explain EVER! Even after ten months I still haven't managed to find a simple way of defining it. We met through my best friend Becci. Dan had been in her class since first year. She was forever saying stuff about me and telling him stuff about me. We had never met and the frustration of not knowing who I was was clearly getting to him and he told her she needed to show him who this mysterious nutcase was. Becci being Becci swung round and started torchering him with my life story, a fully detailed description of me and how pretty she thought I was. I soon learned he had crap common sense. Becky was doing her usual, match making. Besides football training , the one thing your most likely to find Becci doing is match making.

So that day at lunch when we were standing with our usual group, Becci spotted Dan. Catching us both totally unaware, she shouted
"Dan thats Naomi!"
I could of killed her, she could at least of given me a bit of warning before screaming my identity to the absolute stunner ,who quite thankfully was equally surprised, and of course the rest of the school . He walked over and gave me that look boys always give new girls. As I stood there, overwhelmed by how gorgeous he was Becci decided to launch herself in to the conversation I often hear her having with people, my eyes. I have huge eyes and they are exceptionally blue. But I was too engrossed in his tanned skin and gorgeous eyes. He had the most heart-warming chocolate brown eyes and amazing brown hair. I could tell from just looking at him that he had a decent build about him, in fact it was plain to see his body was well toned. I was finally snapped out of my dream world by Becci.
"Naomi!, stop drooling over Dan and look up please."
"What, why ?", I said totally bewildered.
" Didn't I tell you she had amazing eyes? "

I was totally going to kill her when he left, but I was still too busy fantasising to care at that precise moment.
He chuckled and said,
" I'm gonna leave, before poor Naomi's face gets any redder, and Becci we need to talk next period", and with that he winked and walked off in the opposite direction from what I was facing.

In a matter of seconds, Dylan appeared.
" Naomi, Eva's looking for you, its something about dancing," he said with his usual cheerful expression.
"Becci, I'll call you after dancing, bye girls" I said. I still wasn't fully recovered from the shock of Dan's amazing good looks!
